Numerical Simulation of a Fire Accident in a Longitudinally Ventilated Railway Tunnel and Tenability Analysis

The present study examines the prevailing conditions in a railway tunnel after train fire accident and ability of ventilation system to create proper for safe passenger evacuation. examined scenario included an event 20-MW diesel pool on suburban train, immobilized middle 1.5-Km long, linear shaped rectangular ventilated by longitudinal jet fan system, people’s movement during evacuation was effectuated along walking platforms. More specifically, three scenarios with different activation times processes were examined. A Large Eddy simulation model (LES) used air flow tunnel. evaluation criteria considered achievement critical velocity inside tunnel, evacuation, Fractional Effective Dose (FED) value It found that most important action is time, start fire, activated.
